Indoor pickleball courts: how to find them in your city

Indoor courts let you play when it is too hot, too wet or too dark outside. On CourtlyMaps, indoor sites come from OpenStreetMap data, so the city pages show only what has been mapped. Use this guide to see where indoor sites appear and what to confirm before you drive over.

Quick answer

  • Of the 8 cities in the table below, 7 have at least one indoor site listed; Denver and Salt Lake City have the most.
  • Austin has no indoor sites tagged in our data yet.
  • Access, hours and fees are not verified for any site. Call the venue first.

What "indoor" means on CourtlyMaps

Our court listings are built from OpenStreetMap, a map that volunteers edit. A site counts as indoor only when the map data marks it that way. Many indoor facilities are not mapped or not tagged, so a low number on a city page means "few tagged sites", not "few indoor courts". If you know an indoor site that is missing, adding it to OpenStreetMap is the best way to get it onto the map. See how CourtlyMaps uses OpenStreetMap data.

Where indoor data is thin, lighted outdoor courts are the next option for evening play: see finding lighted courts for evening play.

Same rules indoors and outdoors

The court and net do not change when you move inside. Under the USA Pickleball Official Rulebook, the court is a rectangle 20 feet wide and 44 feet long for singles and doubles (rule 3.A.1). The net is 36 inches high at the sidelines (3.B.6) and 34 inches at the center (3.B.7). The rulebook also states that all approved balls are acceptable for indoor or outdoor play (3.C.1). Before you go: what to check

  • Access. Many listings carry no access tag; where one exists, some say private or customers only. Ask whether drop-in players are welcome.
  • Hours and fees. We do not verify them. Check the venue's own site or call.
  • Booking. Indoor courts are often reserved in advance; ask how.
  • What to bring. See what to bring to a public court.
